Building Information Modeling

BIM stands for 'Building Information Modeling'. BIM is not an application or system but a process. A process with a specific working method. During a construction’s lifecycle, all relevant data will be saved, used and managed, supported by a digital (3D) model. Until now, BIM has been based mainly on 3D CAD. Ticon allows managing the execution process based on BIM specifications. Ticon is BIM in its ultimate shape.
Based on objects model
BIM in Ticon is based on the objects model. This objects model is used to save all construction’s information. This might be data from a CAD 2D or 3D application but also additional data e.g. organisational data, permits, quality criteria or user criteria. This object model can be filled automatically by a 3D CAD environment if the appropriate interface is available. Manual additional data input or imports from Word or Excel are also possible.
Version control
All changes are managed by a powerful version control system. The complete change history of an object is always available. It will always be traceable what has been changed, by whom and when.
Data filtering
All BIM data can rapidly be queried, classified and updated. Creating a list of a specific part of a construction, e.g. a door or a window still, is very easy.
Based on 3D CAD
A 3D CAD can be the base for Ticon’s objects model. An interface allows IFC standardised communication with 3D CAD environments.
3D CAD data available everywhere
If a 3D CAD system is the base, it’s data can be retrieved everywhere in Ticon. For instance: When working in a project planning, it is possible to display the objects, related to a specific activity, in the 3D model.
